The FeedBunk AI Compressor is a small desktop app for Mac and Windows. It does two jobs: it shrinks a card full of trail-camera photos down to a fraction of their original size on your own computer, and then it uploads them for you.
You may see it called the BunkAi Desktop app inside the web app. It is the same program.
Why bother installing it
A two-week run at a 10-second interval is tens of thousands of photos and tens of gigabytes. Sent raw through a browser, that is an overnight job on most farm connections, and any interruption means starting over.
The Compressor shrinks the photos first, on your machine, before anything crosses your internet connection. What is left is a small fraction of the original — the difference between an upload that takes hours and one that takes minutes. It also uploads in resumable pieces, so a dropped connection does not mean starting over.
The photos are shrunk to exactly the format our servers use anyway, so nothing is lost by doing it on your end.
What it does not do
- It does not run in the background or watch a folder. You open it, point it at a folder, and it does one job.
- It does not replace your account. It signs in with the same email and password you use on the website.
- It does not let you register. If you do not have an account yet, the app opens your browser so you can create one.
Install it
Download it from feedbunkai.com/get-started, or from inside the web app — there is a Desktop app link in the top bar and a download card on your dashboard.
- Mac — a
.dmgthat works on both Intel and Apple Silicon. Open it and drag Feedbunk AI Compressor into Applications. - Windows — an
.exeinstaller.
Both are signed. On Windows you may see a one-time Windows protected your PC screen the first time you open the installer — here is how to get past it.
If you are on Linux, ChromeOS, or a phone, there is no installer. Use the browser uploader instead — the web app will send you there automatically rather than handing you a file you cannot run.
First launch
The first time you open it, the app asks you to accept its licence, privacy policy, and third-party notices. Accept once and you will not be asked again unless the terms change.
Then you are on the main screen, ready to compress a folder of photos.
Updates
Each time you open the app, it checks for a new version. If there is one, a bar at the top says New version … available. Click Install & relaunch and the app updates and reopens. Click Later and it asks again next time you open it.
The one exception is very old installs. If you are running a version from before the update check existed, download the installer again once from feedbunkai.com/get-started.
